Bloodbath in Lagos: Soldiers kill 8 Policemen including DPO, DCO

LAGOS – BLOOD flowed freely Tuesday in Badagry, Lagos after a group of heavily armed soldiers from the 242 Recce Battalion, Iberepo Badagry took over strategic locations in the ancient town maiming and killing any police man on sight in an apparent reprisal of the killing Monday, of one of their colleagues. The Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Saliu Samson, his Divisional Crime Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DPS) Samuel who were out in the ensuing fracas to appeal for calm were shot dead. Two police patrol vehicles belonging to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) were set ablaze while their occupants were chased and shot dead. As at 2.30 pm yesterday, corpses of police officers littered the Iberepo roundabout while the rampaging soldiers were spotted with every imaginable dangerous weapons scouting for police men.

Sources said some police men and their families who lived in the Iberepo barracks were chased out and seriously wounded. According to sources, a soldier in mufti who was escorting goods from the Nigeria\Seme border was accosted by a police officer attached to RRS and Monday and demanded to search the vehicle. It was learnt that the late unidentified soldier had challenged the policeman and threatened to disarmed him if he does not allow the vehicle free way; prompting the trigger happy policeman to fire at him at close range.

The soldier reportedly slumped and died on the spot. Vanguard was told that the news of the killing of the soldier soon filtered into the Iberepo barracks and some soldiers mobilized as early as 9,00am yesterday and started attacking any policeman on sight contrary to a non violence order given to them by the commander of the barracks, Colonel Nabasa. Contacted, the Force public relation officer, DCP Olusola Amore said he was yet to get details of the clash saying, “Let me talk to the CP Lagos then I will be in a better position to react to the matter. But his counterpart in the army, Lieutenant Colonel Kayode Ogunsanya of the 81 Division said the situation had been brought under control stressing that it will be throughly investigated. “The situation is under control and I can assure you that the cause of the clash will be thoroughly investigated,” he assured.

Last time Gje said nysc is hear to stay, let me ask is any of his children or relations schooling in 9ja? Has any of his children ever gone to the north for nysc with out the sss follow them about? How can our leaders pretend dat everything is okey but its not. Last year female corpers were raped and killed in the north and nothing was done to the rapist and murders upto today, do's that caused the election killings were released by CPC and the FG said nothing but if it was the army dat shot a few bribe taking police men an inquiry would be set up because its a Dpo/Dco. 9ja when would the common man stop suffering?

Whats the noise all about just last month a police man shot a bus driver dead beacuse of N20 nothing was done or said about it now the army kills some few corrupt police officers and burn their mobile business centres ever body, even the nation is sacking. As for me i support the army all d way, because this is the only way they would learn.

Is this a save country?. No one is safe again. If those that paid to save our life, now turn to kill themselves, it is a sorry case. I pity this country of ours. Meanwhile, justice should take its due course, we citizenry are waiting to see the outcome. May the soul of cops that got killed rest in peace, and that of soldier, that was killed.

I feel so sad that this happened so soon. The soldiers could have waited patiently for the police men in their quest for bribes gun down 100 unarmed civilians, motorist, lawyers, doctors, politicians in the ruling party, journalist and ofcourse soldiers before they could have reacted by taking the police to court. But then the police men still have every right to shoot the unarmed soldiers who identify themselves on motorbikes and label them smugglers, after all aren't soldiers usually tasked to protect the police from civilian rioters at the instance of police killings and brutalizations? In any case my take is that the soldiers should have shown restraint until the police kill 100 journalists and dishonour their corpse by labelling them smugglers..........................

Honestly i don't know the kind of people in our forces(police and army)they are bunch of numskulls ,instead of them making sure that the trigger happy police man shuld be punished for the crime of shooting, they went on a killing spree, that behaviour or action is rather too barbaric and uncalled-for.

If a person(s) ID himself as a force man (soldier). fine, why did the policeman still shoot him, come to think of it, if it was a civilian the policeman will do same. Why?  Please CP educate your boy on weapon handling very necessary to all policemen.

Well, this is called feedback. This is just a revelation of the state of Nigeria. Thes

e are the problems we inherited from the Military dictators and crooked politics. It's all these indicators that gave the CIA the gall to predict the failed state fate of Nigeria in the near future. If we as a people don't start talking to ourselves and consciously educating the next generation, we'll be finished in no time.
