The owner a popular night club in Lagos, SQ Lounge, Susan Yusuf, was on Friday night stabbed to death by a man, believed to be her boyfriend, who also died while trying to escape from the scene.

The incident occurred at the late Yusuf’s residence at 1004 flats, Victoria Island, Lagos. The assailant, Idris Mohammed, was said to have jumped from the 10th floor of the 12 storey-building, when residents tried to apprehend him.

He died when he hit the ground.

The Police Public Relations Officer for Lagos State, Jaiyeoba Joseph, confirmed the incident to our correspondent Saturday night, saying it was “a case of murder and suicide.”

According to Joseph, the police got a distress call about 7pm on Friday from residents of the 1004 flats that Susan, who turned 33 on February 4, had been found in the pool of her blood after Mohammed, 27, stabbed her severally in the stomach.

“Susan, who was from Edo State, was running a bar in Victoria Island and she told her employees that she wanted to go and rest at home. She promised to return to the club later in the day.

“But the neighbours heard her shouting from her room and when they forced the door open, they saw her in a pool of her blood. And when Idris, who was from Zaria, Kaduna State, saw them, he jumped from the window of the house on the 10th floor and hit his head on the ground and died. When the neighbours and employees of the deceased saw the body of Idris, they confirmed that they were friends.

“For now, the house of the deceased has been sealed and one of her cars has been taken away by the police, so that it would not be vandalised, while the other one was left there because it does not have a battery. It was also based on the instructions of her family,” the spokesman said.

Joseph added that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, for further investigation and noted that nobody had been questioned yet.
